Hi! It’s going to be a be an extra short newsletter this week. We spent the week in Baltimore for our annual anniversary trip so I don’t have too much to report on other than that.
What I did this week
We had a lovely time in Baltimore this week! A highlight of the trip was visiting the Edgar Allen Poe House (now preserved and turned into a wonderful museum) and we stopped by his grave as well. It was so special having the opportunity to connect with one of my favorite authors; I absolutely credit him and his work for giving me my love of dark storytelling.
The only things separating us from history are space and time. When you’re there physically standing in places like these, then the only thing separating you from the other person is time. It’s always such a moving and grounding experience standing there and being momentarily connected even though there are hundreds of years between you. Two ships passing in the night, as they say.
As a side, note, if you’re ever in Baltimore you absolutely have to eat at the Thames Street Oyster House. We had heard some good things online and from the locals so we thought we would give it a try, and it was hands down the best seafood we’ve ever had and one of the best meals we’ve ever had period. I cannot recommend it enough.
What I loved
I recently found the account @afabledwizard and I absolutely love their outfit reels. This Over the Garden Wall one is so fabulous and creative.
@afabledwizard it's that time of year again~ 🍁 who else is rewatching otgw this autumn, bc it can't just be me! #whimsical #outfit #overthegardenwall
Also, I know this week has been rough for a lot of folks, so please enjoy this cleanser in the form of a baby deer chewing on a blanket.
@biankahalla When your blanket is just too tasty 😋 #foryou #babydeer #fawntok #cutedeer #babyanimals #adorableanimals #cutenessoverload #cutepet #petso... See more
On Wednesday, a student at Evergreen High School in Colorado opened fire and wounded two of his classmates. This is sadly another of the hundreds of mass shootings that have already happened this year. This week, consider getting involved with and/or donating to organizations that are working to end gun violence and protect children in schools, like Sandy Hook Promise or March for our Lives.
